Jeep window switch covers add a decorative finish to working factory buttons. They do not replace the switches or repair an electrical fault. Choose the set for your Jeep generation, compare the actual button layout, and check that every switch moves and returns freely after fitting. JETT OFFROAD has separate four-piece listings for Wrangler JK/JKU and Wrangler JL/JLU or Gladiator JT.
This guide explains the differences between those listings and the checks that matter before attaching a cover. For a button that already sticks or a window that does not operate correctly, have the underlying problem assessed before adding decorative trim.
Window switch covers versus replacement switches
A cover sits over the face of an existing button. The original switch remains underneath and continues to operate the window. A replacement switch is a different component: it replaces part of the original control assembly. The products linked here contain decorative covers only; the switch assembly and surrounding console trim are not included.
That distinction also matters when comparing photos. An installed photo may show a radio, vent rings, a window-lock control or other trim around the covers. Those surrounding parts are not automatically part of the set. Read the included-parts description rather than treating everything in the picture as a package.
Which set matches your Wrangler or Gladiator?
| Vehicle | Listing to check | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Wrangler JK / Unlimited JKU, 2012–2018 | Four-piece aluminum JK/JKU covers | For the matching four-switch factory panel shown. The 2018 application means JK, not JL. |
| Wrangler JL / JLU, 2018–2026 | Four-piece JL/JLU and JT covers | Compare the original button shapes and layout with the listing photos. |
| Gladiator JT, 2020–2026 | The same JL/JLU and JT listing | Do not substitute the separate JK/JKU set. |
These are the applications stated for these specific products, rather than a promise that every trim accessory shares the same year range. A 2018 Wrangler requires particular attention because the year alone does not identify the generation. A modified switch panel or aftermarket buttons also require a fresh comparison.
Compare the panel before choosing a color
Take a clear, straight-on photo of the original window controls. Compare the number of buttons, their outlines, the gaps between them, and any indicator openings with the product photos. The JK listing describes approximately 0.8 × 0.8-inch cover faces; that measurement belongs to that listing and should not be used as a substitute for checking a JL or JT panel.
The JL/JT covers have an AUTO detail, a rectangular opening and a contoured lower edge. Match those features to the intended location. An AUTO marking on a decorative cover does not add an automatic window function to a switch. Choose color after resolving the shape and layout.
For this JL/JT set, Red, Blue, Black, Orange, Purple, Black Carbon Pattern and Pink are plastic; Champagne Gold is zinc alloy. See our material comparison before choosing. If you are coordinating pink parts, our pink interior accent guide explains what to compare between finishes.
A careful fitting sequence
Use the instructions supplied with your exact set. The detailed JK installation guide describes an adhesive-backed fitting process. The JL/JT listing calls for cleaning, alignment and secure attachment; do not assume every cover uses identical preparation or setting times.
- Inspect the original controls. Park the vehicle safely and compare each cover with its intended button before attachment. Keep adhesive liners in place during the initial fit check where supplied.
- Prepare a clean, dry surface. Use an interior-safe cleaner on a cloth. Keep liquid out of switch openings and remove oily dressing from the attachment area.
- Align each piece. Keep indicator openings and moving edges clear. Do not let a cover bridge the gap between buttons or overlap a neighboring control.
- Check operation. Confirm that every button moves freely, returns normally and remains secure. Stop using a button if it binds; do not force the cover to make it fit.
Follow only the adhesive preparation, cleaning and setting time specified for your exact set. Check before using heat or a cleaning product on a different trim item. Keep the packaging until you have checked the contents and initial fit.
Frequently asked questions
Will window switch covers fix a broken power window?
No. These are decorative overlays for existing controls. They do not replace a switch, motor, wiring or another electrical component.
Are JK and JL covers interchangeable on a 2018 Wrangler?
Do not treat them as interchangeable. Identify whether the vehicle is a JK/JKU or JL/JLU, then use the matching listing and compare the panel photos.
Does four pieces mean four replacement switches?
No. It means four decorative button covers. The original switches and surrounding panel are not included.
What should I send for a fitment check?
Contact JETT OFFROAD with the model, year, product link and a clear photo showing the whole window-switch panel. Mention any aftermarket controls. For a coordinated cabin finish, use our interior trim buying guide to check the other parts separately.
